Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway, in association with the East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (ECoRWWO), celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 at the Railway Auditorium, Bhubaneswar with enthusiasm and dignity, recognising the invaluable contributions of women employees across various departments.
Addressing the gathering, ECoRWWO President Kavita Funkwal encouraged women railway employees to recognise their inherent strength and capabilities, work with confidence and determination, and continue contributing meaningfully to the growth and progress of the organisation while inspiring others through their dedication and achievements.
Kanta Mohanty, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Khordha, Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Odisha and POSH Trainer, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
During the event, a total of 31 women railway employees were felicitated for their remarkable contributions and achievements.
- 15 women employees from different fields were honoured for their outstanding performance and professional excellence in their respective fields.
- 16 women employees were awarded for their enthusiastic participation and success in various competitions organised as part of the celebrations.
The celebrations were also observed at all the Divisional Headquarters across the Zone.
Coordinating the programme, Chief Personnel Officer (Industrial Relations) Anjan Ray congratulated the women employees for their sincere dedication and valuable contributions to the Railways.
The programme concluded with a vibrant cultural performance presented by women railway employees, adding a festive and inspiring touch to the celebration of the spirit, strength and achievements of women in the Railways.
