Bhubaneswar: A major mishap averted on the eighth day of the Cuttack Bali Yatra festival when a ride malfunctioned, leaving 8 people including children and women, stranded 50 feet in the air.
According to reports, the ride stopped suddenly due to a mechanical issue, trapping the passengers. A rescue operation was immediately launched by the fire department, district administration, and police personnel, who worked tirelessly to rescue the stranded people. After a 2-hour-long operation, all 8 people were safely rescued and taken to a medical facility for treatment.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety measures in place at the festival. The Cuttack DCP was present at the scene and oversaw the rescue operation.
The Bali Yatra, which celebrates Odisha’s maritime heritage, is one of Asia’s largest open trade fairs and attracts millions of visitors every year.
