Bhubaneswar: Gajapati police arrested an elderly man on Friday on charges of molesting a 3-year-old girl. The incident has been reported from the Mohana police area in Odisha’s Gajapati district.
The arrested accused has been identified as Balaram Naik of Asahi village under Mohana police limits.
On Thursday evening, Balaram allegedly took advantage of the fact that the minor girl was alone and lured her to buy sweets from a nearby shop. After luring the girl, the accused took her to a nearby forest and molested her.
When the girl’s family members did not find her at home, they launched a frantic search for her. Eventually, they rescued the girl in an unconscious state from the forest.
On being informed, the police launched a probe into the incident and arrested Balaram.
