Bhubaneswar: An elderly man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping an MBA student in the Gangapada area under the jurisdiction of Info Valley Police Station in Bhubaneswar.
The accused has been identified as Deepak Pradhan (67), a resident of the same locality.
According to sources, the accused runs a shop near the victim’s hostel in Gangapada. The incident reportedly took place on April 24, when the victim was alone in the hostel. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused allegedly entered the premises and raped her.
Following the incident, the victim lodged a complaint at Info Valley Police Station. Acting promptly on the complaint, police arrested the accused.
The victim has been sent for medical examination, and further investigation into the matter is underway.
