Angul: In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, an elderly woman was killed in an elephant attack at Jamunda village in Bantala forest in Odisha’s Angul district on Friday morning. Another woman was injured in a separate elephant attack and has been admitted to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Kustu Dehuri (70).
According to reports, the incident occurred early on Friday morning when Kustu had gone to defecate in the open on the outskirts of the village. Suddenly an elephant, which had strayed into the village from the nearby forest, arrived at the scene and trampled Kustu to death.
Kumari Sahu (58) of Bantla village was seriously injured in an elephant attack while picking flowers near her house.
