Kataka: The Kataka Development Authority (KDA) on Tuesday approved a slew of urban development initiatives, including the development of Sector-15, establishment of a dedicated Kapda Mandi and a comprehensive plan to ease traffic congestion in the city.
The decisions were taken at the 144th Authority meeting of the KDA, chaired by Housing and Urban Development Minister and KDA Chairman Krushna Chandra Mahapatra. The meeting also reviewed the progress of town planning schemes, the Mahanadi River Front Development Project and various road construction works.
The Authority discussed measures to strengthen social infrastructure through development of schools, hospitals and community halls, while also reviewing the progress of the Town Planning Scheme at Chandiprasad and stressing the need to expedite the process.
The meeting also accorded priority to affordable housing projects aimed at providing safe and quality housing to people across different sections of society.
The proposed Kapda Mandi is expected to help streamline trading activities, while the city-wide decongestion plan will focus on improving traffic management, reducing congestion and strengthening urban infrastructure.
KMC Mayor Subash Chandra Singh, Director of Town Planning and Additional Secretary in the Housing and Urban Development Department Satrughna Kar, KDA Vice-Chairperson Kirandeep Kaur Sahota, KDA Secretary Janak Kumar Nayak and other senior officials attended the meeting.
