NCST Chairman Antar Singh Arya Reviews ST Welfare Measures In Khordha

Bhubaneswar: National Commission for Scheduled Tribes Chairman Antar Singh Arya has come on a two-day state visit to review development and welfare of Scheduled Tribes. Arya visited Puri yesterday and discussed various issues in a review meeting held at the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Conference Hall today.

In the meeting, he interacted with Scheduled Tribe students and learned about their various problems. Since tribal tradition is very ancient and based on specific disciplines, he emphasized on maintaining its protection and originality. He also emphasized on protection of land and forests of tribal areas and discussed with Bana Raksha Samiti and beneficiaries of forest rights.

District Collector Amrit Ruturaj informed the Commission about various steps taken for welfare, development and advancement of Scheduled Tribes in Khordha district. Chairman Arya reviewed all work and expressed satisfaction over implementation of various schemes.

Earlier, he planted trees as part of the Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam campaign and attended a health camp related to blood clotting. He also discussed various issues with Scheduled Tribe officers and employees working in various industries and institutions.

Among others, meeting was attended by Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena, Director of Commission Purnendu Kant, Khordha Forest Officer Lade Gajanan Dayanand, Khordha Additional District Collector Pratap Chandra Beura, Bhubaneswar Additional District Collector Ramesh Chandra Jena, Deputy District Collector Dr. Minoranja Sahu, BMC Additional Commissioner Sasmita Nayak, Kailash Chandra Das, District Welfare Officer Gitansu Mohan Dash, senior state and district level officers.
