Jharsuguda: Former Jharsuguda Bar Association president and BJD leader Trinath Gual was found dead under mysterious circumstances near a railway track at Balijuri in Jharsuguda district on Tuesday morning.
According to reports, locals spotted the body lying near the railway track around 7:30 a.m. and alerted the authorities. On receiving the information, police reached the spot and identified the deceased as Trinath Gual. Rs 1,000 in cash and some official documents were recovered from the scene. It has also been reported that the body was found undressed.
The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. It is being investigated whether the case is one of suicide or foul play.
Family members of the deceased have raised suspicions over the circumstances surrounding the death and demanded a thorough and impartial investigation. They claimed that Gual had followed his usual routine of morning walks, but his mobile phone was found switched off on Tuesday, which raised concern within the family.
As per family members, they were later informed by a relative that an unidentified person resembling Trinath Gual had been found dead near the railway station. The family subsequently reached the spot and identified the body.
The family has rejected the possibility of suicide, alleging that there may be a conspiracy behind the incident. They have urged authorities to conduct a detailed investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, the Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered a suicide note from the spot, which reportedly stated that no one was responsible for the death. The authenticity of the note is being verified as part of the ongoing investigation.
