Ex-Junior Clerk Gets 4 Yrs Rigorous Imprisonment In Corruption Case

Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court in Cuttack on Thursday sentenced a former Junior Clerk of the office of the Kujanga Tahasildar in Jagatsinghpur district Sukanta Kumar Das to four years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) after convicting him in a corruption case.

Das, who is currently posted as Junior Clerk in Jagatsinghpur Collectorate was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant for facilitating issuance of RoR in his favour in a lease case.

Following his conviction by the court, Das was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence.

Further, the Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal Das from service following his conviction.
