Bhubaneswar: Miscreants looted ornaments and cash from the house of former minister and senior Congress leader Niranjan Patnaik at Nayapalli in Bhubaneswar on Saturday night.
The burglary was recorded on the CCTV camera installed in the house. According to the CCTV footage, a miscreant entered the house through the staircase and looted ornaments and cash after breaking the almirahs, said Debajyoti Patnaik, son of Niranjan Patnaik. The thief came well-prepared and entered the house fearlessly.
“All the ornaments and some cash were stolen from my travel suitcase. My son woke up and tried to follow the miscreants, who immediately locked the room from inside and fled by breaking the window,” he said.
The police have been informed, and an investigation is underway. The amount of cash and jewellery stolen will be ascertained only after a preliminary investigation, he added.
