Baripada: Intense cold wave conditions have gripped northern parts of Odisha, with interior Mayurbhanj reeling under severe cold conditions. Several areas in the district recorded temperatures below 10°C, with some places experiencing extremely low temperatures.
As per reports, the temperature recorded showed a significant drop, with Ramatirtha plummeting to -10°C, Gurguria and Barehipani recording 6°C each, Chahala at 4°C, Nawana at -5°C, and UBK at -3°C.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has, meanwhile, warned of dense fog in isolated areas of Mayurbhanj and several other districts until Sunday morning.
Going by IMD prediction, several districts including Jharsuguda, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Koraput, Kandhamal and Sambalpur may experience foggy conditions until Sunday morning, with some areas experiencing dense fog.
This cold wave is not limited to Mayurbhanj, as other parts of Odisha are also experiencing a drop in temperature.
According to reports, G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district recorded the lowest night temperature of 9.2°C, followed by 10.2°C in Rourkela, 10.4°C in Jharsuguda, and 10.7°C in Kirei, Sundargarh.
