Cuttack: In a shocking incident, a 60-year-old man and his 17-year-old daughter allegedly committed suicide in their rented flat at Snehalata Apartments under the Badambadi police limits of Cuttack city on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Manas Ranjan Das and his daughter, Harshrita. While Manas Ranjan’s body was found hanging, Harshrita was discovered lying on the bed.

The Badambadi police have seized the bodies and registered two cases of unnatural death. Preliminary investigations suggest that Manas Ranjan was facing severe financial difficulties and had not paid rent for several months.

He had reportedly been asked by the landlord to vacate the premises. It is suspected that the father-daughter duo may have taken the extreme step due to mounting mental pressure.
