Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a newly-wed woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Mahipur village under Tusura police station in Bolangir district on Saturday. Her family has alleged foul play and claimed that she was murdered.

The deceased has been identified as Anupama Mahanand, a resident of Bagbhadi village in Bolangir. She was married 10 months ago to Maidantu Mahanand of Mahipur village in a traditional Vedic ceremony.

According to family members, Anupama’s in-laws brought her to the Deogaon Community Health Center (CHC) last night, claiming she was unwell. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival. Her family suspects that she was strangled to death and have alleged that the murder may be linked to the husband’s extramarital affair.

Following a complaint lodged by Anupama’s parents at Tusura police station, the police detained three persons for questioning. The police have seized the body and are conducting a detailed investigation to ascertain the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding it.
