Bhubaneswar: A man and his son lost their lives in a violent land dispute with their neighbours in Samagara village under Penthakata Marine Police limits in Puri district on Wednesday night.
The deceased have been identified as Rabi Swain and his son Prakash Swain.
According to reports, a heated argument erupted between the father-son duo and their neighbours, Jyoti Pradhan and his family, over a longstanding land dispute. The altercation soon escalated into a physical clash.
Irked over the matter, Jyoti Pradhan and his family members attacked Rabi and Prakash with sharp-edged weapons. Prakash died on the spot, while Rabi sustained critical injuries. The injured father was rushed to Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning.
Upon receiving information, Puri Superintendent of Police Vinit Agarwal and the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) arrived at the village to bring the situation under control. The police have detained two people for questioning in connection with the incident.
