Keonjhar: A female elephant was killed after being hit by a train near Uthabali in the Champua Range of the Bambari Section in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Tuesday.
According to reports, a freight train hit the elephant while it was crossing the railway track killing the animal on the spot. On being informed, Forest Department personnel reached the spot and started an investigation.
Elephant deaths are becoming frequent in this part of the state raising concern about their safety. A day back, an elephant calf died in the Bashanpal area.
