Bhubaneswar: Passengers of a ‘Mo Bus’ had a narrow escape from a major accident after fire broke out in the vehicle on Birupa bridge under Jagatpur police limits in Cuttack. The passengers were forced to escape through the windows as the sensor door of the bus malfunctioned and remained locked.
The ‘Mo Bus’ (No. OD-33 U 6524) was en route to Cuttack from Agra Haat with over 30 passengers when the incident occurred. After crossing the Birupa River, a loud noise was heard from the bus, prompting the driver to stop the vehicle.
Heavy smoke billowed out of the bus, and with the sensor door locked, passengers had to break free through the windows to save their lives. The immediate response of the passengers averted a major disaster. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
