Bhubaneswar: A week after resigning from Biju Janata Dal (BJD), former Odisha MLA Sunanda Das joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday.
Her husband Debendra Kumar Das also joined the saffron party in the presence of state BJP president Manmohan Samal and other senior leaders at the party office in Bhubaneswar.
It may be noted that Sunanda, former MLA from Bari in Jajpur district, had quit BJD last week and made serious allegations against the regional party and its leaders.
Das made headlines last week alleging that officers were involved in distributing party tickets during the 2024 twin elections in Odisha. This serious accusation has brought attention to the state’s political landscape.
It is pertinent to mention that Das had successfully contested the 2019 elections from the Bari constituency as a BJD candidate.
