Former BDA Section Officer Tarini Charan Das Convicted In Bribery Case

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of a former Section Officer of Bhubaneswar Development Authority in a bribery case.

Tarini Charan Das, Former Section Officer, Allotment Section, BDA, Bhubaneswar (Retired), was convicted on Thursday by the Additional Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.

He was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from an applicant for the transfer of ownership of a house.

The court sentenced Das to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and imposed a fine.

Following his conviction, Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Tarini Charan Das, Former Section Officer, Allotment Section, BDA, Bhubaneswar (Retired).
