Former Executive Engineer Awarded 2-Year RI For Possessing Disproportionate Asset

Bhubaneswar: A Cuttack court on Monday convicted former Executive Engineer (retired) Narahari Panda for possessing disproportionate assets (DA) and sentenced him to two years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000. In default of fine, he is to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for six months for offence under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

A press release issued by Odisha Vigilance said that Panda, who is a retired executive engineer, Brahmani, Subarnarekha, Baitarani Basin, Laxmiposi, Baripada in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Balasore Vigilance PS case under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act,1988, for possession of disproportionate assets (DA).

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Panda following his conviction.
