Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested four people and seized 20 grams of brown sugar from a car near Ghantipada overbridge in Talcher late on Thursday night. According to Koliyari police, they received specific information that a consignment of brown sugar was being brought from Balasore to Talcher in a car.
Acting on the tip-off, a police team set up blockades at multiple points and intercepted the vehicle near Ghantipada overbridge under Koliyari police limits.
During search, police recovered 20 grams of brown sugar from the car. All four occupants were arrested on the spot. The car used to transport the contraband has also been seized.
All the arrested accused are residents of the Talcher area. Police said an FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act and further investigation is underway to trace the source of the drugs and possible links.
