Berhampur: The authorities of MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur initiated strong disciplinary action against four doctors who were involved in the assault on junior doctors in the hostel.
Acting on a direction from the DMET, the Dean and Principal of the medical college terminated four doctors from service on ‘disciplinary grounds’ with immediate effect. They are Dr Purussottam Swain, Assistant Professor, Orthopedics, Dr Aryan Kumar Mohanty, Senior Resident, Orthopedics, Dr Chinmay Pradhan, Senior Resident, Orthopedics, and Dr Yashwant Veera of the General Surgery department.
Similarly, Dr Priyajeet Sahoo, a 2nd-year PG resident in the Department of Orthopedics, has been debarred for six months from the hostel, as stated in a notification issued by the college authorities.
The four doctors were earlier debarred from entering the hostel for attacking a junior student on the campus. A case was registered at Baidyanathpur police station by the victim. Dr Suchitra Dash, Principal, discussed the matter with the disciplinary committee and forwarded the recommendations to the DMET for action.
