Four More Gates Of Hirakud Dam Opened Amid Rise In Water Inflow

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has opened four more sluice gates of the Hirakud Dam after an increase in the inflow of water into the reservoir.

Currently, a total of 12 sluice gates are releasing floodwater, with 8 gates on the left side and 4 gates on the right side.

As of yesterday, a total of eight gates were releasing floodwater, with five gates open on the left side and three gates open on the right side.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red warning for Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts, predicting extremely heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours. The IMD has also forecast heavy rainfall in several other districts, including Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Sambalpur, and Nabarangapur.

In the past 24 hours, several districts have received heavy rainfall with thunderstorms, causing waterlogging and disruption in daily life.
