Balliguda (Kandhamal): A free coaching programme for Civil Services aspirants was launched at Prastuti Library in Balliguda of Kandhamal district, with 60 students set to benefit from the initiative.
Kandhamal Collector Vedbhushan, along with Balliguda Sub-Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Pranita Dash and other dignitaries, inaugurated the programme. The coaching is being conducted in collaboration with ‘NEXT IAS’, with classes commencing on Saturday.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Collector Vedbhushan said the initiative would provide students from Kandhamal an opportunity to prepare for the Civil Services examination without having to travel to cities such as Delhi or Mumbai for coaching.
“Today, we have started Civil Services coaching at Prastuti Library in Balliguda in collaboration with ‘NEXT IAS’. Classes have started from today, and 60 students will receive coaching under the programme. We hope they prepare well and achieve good results,” he said.
The Collector said the district administration was focusing on education along with other key sectors, including health, agriculture and industry. He said the initiative was aimed at encouraging students from Kandhamal to aspire for higher positions in government services.
“We want students from Kandhamal to reach higher positions. We expect the best from them. Once they qualify for the examination and join the services, they should work like leaders, with dedication and hard work, to fulfil their dreams,” Vedbhushan said.
The free coaching programme is expected to particularly benefit students who cannot afford expensive coaching or travel outside the state for Civil Services preparation.
An Anganwadi worker from the district, who is also preparing for the Civil Services examination, said the programme would allow her to balance work and studies.
“I am an Anganwadi worker, and I have decided to work and study at the same time. Since I cannot go outside the state for coaching, this programme will help me prepare while continuing my work. The free coaching will benefit aspirants from Kandhamal, as many of us cannot afford to travel to cities like Delhi and Mumbai for preparation,” she said.
The initiative is being seen as an important step towards improving access to competitive examination coaching for students in the district and encouraging more youngsters from Kandhamal to pursue careers in the Civil Services.
