Bhubaneswar: The weather system over the Bay of Bengal is once again becoming active, with the possibility of a fresh low-pressure area forming within the next 24 hours.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic circulation that was lying over Myanmar and its adjoining areas yesterday has now moved. As of today, the cyclonic circulation lies over north Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and Bangladesh. The system extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level in the atmosphere. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region in the next 24 hours.
With the likely formation of the low pressure, Odisha is expected to experience enhanced rainfall activity in the coming days.
The Met department has advised fishermen and people in low-lying areas to stay alert.
The regional weather department is closely monitoring the system and is likely to issue further warnings regarding rainfall distribution, wind speed and sea conditions.
