Bhubaneswar: One person died and several others were injured after a portion of concrete slab of a building collapsed due to excessive DJ sound during Ganesh idol immersion in Jatni of Khurda district.
The incident occurred at Jatni Post Office Square during the immersion procession. According to reports, the slab of a building collapsed on people watching the procession due to loud noise and vibration from the DJ system.
Several people were injured in the collapse. Seven of them, who sustained serious injuries, were shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar and Capital Hospital.
One of the critically injured, identified as Biswajit Barik of Harirajpur under Delang Police Station in Puri district, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at AIIMS. Police have started an inquiry into the incident.
