Bhubaneswar: A girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances near Dakhina Kali temple at Lingipur under Dhauli police limits on Sunday night.
Acting on a tip-off, police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of Hinjilikatu area of Ganjam district and was residing at Sishupalgarh in the state capital.
Dhauli police, meanwhile, launched a probe after seizing her body and sending it for post-mortem.
Police also seized two bikes parked near the body. Based on the bike number, police detained the girl’s lover in this connection.
Police sources revealed that the deceased had eloped with her lover four months back. Her lover might have killed her with the help of his acquaintances. They allegedly were taking the body in bikes to destroy it when the body accidentally fell off the bike. Fearing the arrest, the trio might have left the scene keeping their bikes there only.
