Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of International Labour Day, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended warm greetings to the workers of the state, acknowledging their crucial role in Odisha’s growth and development.
In his message, the Chief Minister said, “On this International Labour Day, I convey my sincere greetings to all the worker brothers and sisters of Odisha. I hold profound respect for your priceless contributions to the state’s development journey.”
He reiterated the state government’s strong commitment to the holistic upliftment, welfare, and rights protection of the labour community.
“The Odisha government remains dedicated to the all-round development, welfare, and safeguarding of the rights of the working class,” Majhi stated.
Calling for collective effort, the Chief Minister urged everyone to join hands: “Let us all come together and work unitedly towards building a prosperous and developed Odisha.”
This message comes as the world observes International Workers’ Day on May 1, focusing on workers’ rights, fair wages, safe working conditions, and emerging priorities such as mental health in the workplace and women’s empowerment in the labour force.
In recent months, the Odisha government has taken several steps to protect workers, including issuing guidelines to restrict outdoor work during peak heat hours (11 AM to 3 PM) from April to mid-June 2026 to prevent heat-related illnesses amid rising summer temperatures.
