Bhubaneswar: The 3rd meeting of the Odisha Handlooms and Handicrafts Development and Promotion Council (OHHDPC) was held here today.
While Dr Sudarsan Sahoo chaired the meeting, Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts (HTH) Department participated in the meeting as a Special Invitee.
Discussion was made on various issues of the weavers and artisans of the State in the meeting. The prominent issues on which discussion was made are the survey of handicraft artisans and handloom weavers, proper channelizing of raw materials to the artisans and weavers, revision of approved craft list of the State, modification of the capacity building training guideline and introducing a Government sponsored Life Insurance Scheme for artisans and weavers.
It is decided to place the recommendations of the council on the above matters before the Government for necessary follow-up action.
Besides the members of OHHDPC, Saroj Kumar Patel, Director of Textiles and Handlooms, Pranati Chhotaray, Director of Handicrafts also attended the meeting.
In the end, Bikramaditya Barik, Member Secretary offered a vote of thanks.
