Bhubaneswar: In a significant step towards promoting renewable energy and green hydrogen initiatives in Odisha, GRIDCO signed two RE banking agreements with M/s ReNew E-Fuels Private Limited for 50 MW and M/s UltraTech Cement Ltd for 6.25 MW. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.

The agreements aim to advance Odisha’s renewable energy adaptation and green hydrogen landscape, paving the way for a sustainable future. Deputy CM Singh Deo emphasised that the state government has approved 14 Green Hydrogen/Ammonia Projects with a proposed investment of approximately Rs. 2 lakh crores, expected to generate employment opportunities for 22,000 people.

Principal Secretary Vishal Dev highlighted the importance of banking renewable energy, stating that it allows consumers to bank energy during surplus generation and utilize it during lean periods, addressing the intermittent nature of solar and wind power generation.

These agreements reinforce Odisha’s leadership and commitment to industrial development, backed by strong policies, robust green infrastructure, and strategic seaports. The state is emerging as a hub for green hydrogen and ammonia production, with several major projects in the pipeline.
