Jaleswar: Armed miscreants allegedly looted around Rs 10 lakh from an Odisha Grameen Bank branch at Khaprapada under Baliapal police station limits in Baleshwar district, police said.
According to preliminary information, four to six miscreants arrived at the bank in an SUV posing as customers. They allegedly brandished guns and other weapons, threatened the bank staff and customers and looted the cash before fleeing the spot.
When the bank manager and employees reportedly tried to resist, the miscreants assaulted them. The bank manager sustained serious injuries in the attack and was subsequently admitted to the Government Hospital at Baliapal for treatment.
On being informed, Baliapal police reached the bank and collected details from employees and eyewitnesses. An investigation has been launched to identify and apprehend the robbers, officials said.
