Bhubaneswar: International Yoga Day was celebrated at Lok Bhavan here on Sunday with active participation from dignitaries, officials, and students. The event was held at New Abhishek Hall, where Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati and First Lady Dr. Jayashree Kambhampati took part in a special yoga session.
This year’s celebrations were held on the theme “Yoga for Healthy Aging,” highlighting the role of yoga in promoting healthy and active ageing.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Rupa Roshan Sahu, along with officers and staff of Lok Bhavan, participated in the programme.
Participants performed various yoga asanas and pranayama in a calm and serene atmosphere. The session underscored the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life for overall health, balance, and well-being.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor described yoga as a holistic discipline that fosters harmony between the body, mind, and spirit. He urged citizens to adopt yoga as a regular practice to enhance physical fitness and mental peace.
Students from the Asian Institute of Public Health (AIPH) University and the Abhinav Bindra Sports Medicine and Research Institute (ABSMARI) also joined the programme. The yoga session was conducted by instructors Sushil Pattanaik, Nilima Pal, and Jyothi Samal.
