Kataka: The Orissa High Court has allowed the no-confidence proceedings against Tikhiri gram panchayat Sarpanch Chameli Ojha in Kendrapada district to continue, while restraining the authorities from declaring or publishing the voting results without its permission.

The order came during the hearing of a petition filed by Chameli Ojha challenging the no-confidence proceedings initiated against her.

As per the High Court’s direction, all necessary steps relating to the no-confidence motion may proceed and the voting can also be conducted. However, the outcome of the voting cannot be declared or made public until further orders from the court.

The hearing on the petition filed by Ojha has been completed, and the High Court has reserved its judgment in the matter.

The order means that while the no-confidence process against the Tikhiri gram panchayat sarpanch can move forward, the final outcome will remain under wraps until the High Court passes further directions.

The case has assumed significance as the continuation of the proceedings and the court’s decision on Ojha’s petition will determine the next course of action in the matter.
