Bhubaneswar: The severe heat-wave condition is likely to prevail over the parts of the State for next four days due to dry wind in the atmosphere.
IMD, Bhubaneswar, scientist Umashankar Dash today said at a press meet that the maximum day temperature is likely to rise by 2 degrees C in several parts of the State. Most of the places in the State may record 45 degrees C during these four days. The condition will continue till May 2 despite the possibilities of westerlies in some parts.
The Kalabaisakhi rain may not affect the temperature in the daytime, Dash added.
On Friday, some parts in south Odisha experienced Kalabaisakhi rain. Nabarangpur recorded the highest 9.1 mm rainfall on Friday afternoon under the influence of the westerlies.
Dash informed that the heat wave to severe heat wave warning has been issued for several districts for next 24 hours. There is no possibility of a major change in the weather system in the next four days.
People are advised to take adequate precautionary measures to avoid heat. They should remain indoors during day hours, he added.
The heat wave will also persist today as several places touch 34 degrees C by 8.30 AM today. Talcher emerged hottest with 36.8 followed by Baripada which recorded 36 degrees C at 8.30 AM. Keonjhar, Rourkela and Bolangir reported 34.8 each while mercury touched 34 degrees C each in Bhawanipatna, Balasore, Boudh.
