Bhubaneswar: As many as seven districts in Odisha are likely to be affected over the next two days.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in these districts, prompting the regional weather office to sound an alert.
The districts affected by the heatwave warning are Jharsuguda, Boudh, Balangir, Sundergarh, Angul, and Kalahandi, with specific warnings issued for each district, including orange and yellow warnings for March 18 and 19.
“Heat wave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, and Boudh”, read the IMD prediction for March 18. These two districts have been issued orange warnings.
Besides, a yellow warning has been issued for Balangir, Sundergarh, Angul, and Kalahandi districts for March 18, advising residents to be aware of the heat wave conditions.
The IMD has also issued an orange warning for Boudh district on March 19, indicating that the heatwave conditions are likely to persist. A yellow warning has been issued for Balangir and Jharsuguda districts for the same day.
Residents in these districts are advised to take necessary precautions, such as staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and seeking shade when necessary.
