Bhadrak: Incessant rainfall triggered by an active weather system forced the Bhadrak district administration to shut all government, government-aided and private schools across the district on Tuesday as a precautionary measure.
The district administration said the decision was taken in view of the prevailing weather conditions and the forecast of more rain over the next 24 hours. However, schools functioning under the Central Kitchen model will remain open only for the distribution of the Mid-Day Meal to students before suspending academic activities for the day.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal. A low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay, which is expected to further intensify rainfall across the state.
