Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued ‘Orange’ and ‘Yellow’ warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activity with lightning across several districts of Odisha till August 1, 2025.
An Orange warning has been issued for Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Bhadrak, where heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph is likely at a few places on July 31.
A Yellow warning has been issued for Balasore, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Angul, Deogarh, and Dhenkanal, with similar conditions expected at one or two places. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are also likely at isolated locations in Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati on the same day.
For August 1, the IMD has issued a Yellow warning for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh, forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds at one or two places. Similar weather conditions are expected in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
The IMD has not issued any weather warnings for the subsequent three days following August 1.
