Heavy Rainfall Lashes Odisha; Sundaragada’s Lathikata Records 182MM In Last 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha received heavy to very heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on August 14, 2026, according to data released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to data release by IMD, Lathikata in Sundargada district recorded the highest rainfall of 182 mm, followed by Kusumi in Mayurbhanj with 144 mm and Telkoi in Kendujhar with 129.8 mm.

Muruda and Sarasakana in Mayurbhanj each received 119 mm of rain, while Rajgangapur in Sundargada recorded 107.6 mm. Raruana in Mayurbhanj received 102 mm, Mandiradam in Sundargada received 100.6 mm and Naktideul in Sambalpur received 100.4 mm.

Other stations that recorded significant rainfall include Sukruli in Mayurbhanj (99.7 mm), Kutra in Sundargada (96 mm), Rasgovindpur in Mayurbhanj (90 mm), Baragaon in Sundargada (88.2 mm), Joda in Kendujhar (85.1 mm), Jaleswar in Baleshwar (82 mm) and Betanati in Mayurbhanj (82 mm).The heaviest rain was concentrated mainly in Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj and Kendujhar districts.
