Heavy To Very Heavy Rain Lashes Odisha; Narla Records Highest 131MM

Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha received heavy to very heavy rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Friday, according to data released by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.

Two stations recorded very heavy rainfall while 32 stations reported heavy rainfall across the state. Narla in Kalahandi district registered the highest rainfall of 131.0 mm, followed by Madanpur-Rampur in the same district with 117.0 mm. Belgaon in Bolangir recorded 115.0 mm, while Athagarh and Mahanga in Cuttack received 112.0 mm and 104.0 mm respectively.

Other notable rainfall figures include Salebhatta (Balangir) 103.4 mm, Khairmal (Boudh) 99.2 mm, Dhenkanal (Pto) 98.6 mm, Kesingha (Kalahandi) 98.4 mm, Dhenkanal 95.2 mm, and Kalinga (Kandhamal) 95.0 mm.

Rainfall above 70 mm was also reported from stations in Sonepur, Puri, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Sundargarh, Angul, Gajapati and other districts. The widespread heavy rain is attributed to the prevailing weather systems over the region.
