Bhubaneswar: The Excise Flying Squad (EI & EB, Unit-I, Cuttack) on Friday detected a case under the NDPS Act and arrested one person for illegal possession of narcotic substances.
The accused, identified as Rajesh Kumar Sahoo (29) of Bhuinpur under Panikoili police station in Jajpur district, was apprehended on April 17 during a raid conducted under the supervision of Rosan Isu Hansda and as per the direction of S.E. Samarjit Dash.
During the operation, officials seized 107 grams of heroin from the possession of the accused. A green and yellow Bajaj auto was also seized. The total estimated value of the seized contraband and vehicle is approximately ₹14.2 lakh.
The seizure was made in front of Samrat Cinema Hall under Madhupatna police station limits in Cuttack.
Following the arrest, the accused was forwarded to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway to determine the source and intended distribution network of the seized heroin.
The raiding team included Sub-Inspector Amit Kumar Biswal, SI S.K. Sakir Ulla, ASIs Karna Oram and Ajay Sahoo, along with constables Diljit Dash, Gaurang Nayak, Annapurna Ganda, Sankarsan Rout, Jagannath Sahoo, Chandrakanta Sahoo, Sibananda Sarangi, and driver Krushna Mohan Das.
