Bhubaneswar: Hot and humid weather conditions continued to prevail across Odisha on Monday, with several places recording maximum temperatures above 38 degrees Celsius, according to the evening weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre.
Sambalpur emerged as the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 39.2 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Titlagarh at 39 degrees Celsius. Angul recorded 38.3 degrees Celsius, while Nuapada registered 38.2 degrees Celsius.
Other major towns witnessing high temperatures included Jharsuguda and Bhawanipatna at 38 degrees Celsius each, Koraput and Nayagarh at 37.5 degrees Celsius, Hirakud and Malkangiri at 37.4 degrees Celsius each, and Phulbani at 37.1 degrees Celsius.
The state capital Bhubaneswar recorded 36.6 degrees Celsius, while Cuttack registered 35 degrees Celsius. Coastal districts such as Balasore, Puri and Kendrapada witnessed relatively lower temperatures at 34.3 degrees Celsius, 33.7 degrees Celsius and 34.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
Among the cooler places, Daringbadi recorded the lowest maximum temperature in the state at 30.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Paradip at 32.9 degrees Celsius and Keonjhar at 33 degrees Celsius.
The IMD bulletin also indicated varying humidity levels across the state. Chandbali recorded the highest morning relative humidity at 93 per cent, while Boudh and Jharsuguda witnessed relatively lower evening humidity levels at 42 per cent and 44 per cent respectively.
Light rainfall activity was reported from a few places in the state during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am Sunday. Kendrapada received the highest rainfall at 10.4 mm, followed by Jagatsinghpur at 10.3 mm and Boudh at 7 mm. Bhubaneswar and Phulbani recorded 1.6 mm and 1.8 mm rainfall respectively.
The IMD has forecast continuation of hot and humid conditions in several parts of Odisha over the next few days.
