Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today asked people not to speculate over the finding of human skulls and parts of skeletons from under Injana Bridge near Patia railway station.
“It will not be appropriate to speculate anything at this stage. Since these skulls and bones are very old, we should wait for the opinion from AIIMS,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Uma Shankar Dash speaking to reporters here today.
Dash informed that in the inquest and investigation conducted by the police it has not found anything ‘suspicious’ in it.
And it’s not possible, since these are very old, he added.
“We can only decide on the next course of our investigation in the matter after getting the scientific report from AIIMS,” Dash said.
The DCP informed that the skulls, bones and soil samples from the site have been sent to AIIMS for better examination.
Since these skulls and bones are very old those have been sent to AIIMS for chemical treatment and processing and which will require some amount of time, the DCP clarified.
Around 14 human skulls and parts of skeletons were spotted by ragpickers under Injana Bridge in Kalarahanga near Patia railway station on Wednesday.
Mancheswar police and a scientific team had rushed to the spot and seized the skeletons, which were sent to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for forensic examination.
