Jagatsinghpur: Police busted an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit allegedly operating without valid authorisation in Jagatsinghpur district and arrested one person in connection with the case, an officer said on Tuesday.
The raid was conducted on October 12 at Dhobeijangal (Dahibara) village under the jurisdiction of Erasama police station, where police detected the unauthorised manufacturing unit, he said.
During the operation, police seized approximately 100 kg of gunpowder, 80 handmade crackers (bombs), 500 fuses, four bottles containing chemicals, 67 empty anar firecracker pots, 20 empty firecracker tubes, five empty sky-shot tubes and other materials used in manufacturing firecrackers.
The seized explosive substances and other materials were taken into police custody in accordance with the law, police said.
Erasama Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring public safety and taking action against illegal activities involving explosive materials.
