Kataka: Police have seized a huge stockpile of illegal firecrackers worth over ₹7 lakh from a rented house in the Purighat area of Kataka on Friday and arrested one person in connection with the case.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Purighat police station conducted a surprise raid on the house and recovered 74 boxes of firecrackers. The seized items included various types of sutuli bombs and other fireworks.
The accused, identified as Akash Nandi, was arrested for allegedly storing the illegal firecrackers in the rented premises.
ACP Ashok Giri said the estimated value of the seized firecrackers was more than ₹7 lakh.
Further investigation is underway.
