Cuttack: In a major crackdown on the illicit liquor trade, the Commissionerate Police have arrested a liquor trader from the Bayalis Mouza area of Cuttack and seized ₹13 lakh in cash from his residence.

The accused has been identified as Suman Bhoi, a resident of Tadapada.

During the raid, police recovered 11 litres of country liquor stored in 55 bottles from the accused’s house. Investigations revealed that Bhoi had been running an illegal country liquor business in the area for an extended period.

Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo informed that as many as 14 criminal cases are already registered against the accused at the Bayalis Mouza Police Station. Police are further probing the source of the seized cash and the network involved in the illicit liquor trade.

The Commissionerate Police have intensified their operations against illegal liquor and related activities across Cuttack, aiming to curb the menace ahead of the festive season.
