Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Yellow’ alert for 19 Odisha districts forecasting thunderstorm with lightning during the next 24 hours.
“Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Kalahandi during the next 24 hours,” the IMD warned in its midday weather bulletin issued here today.
However, heatwave condition is very likely to prevail in the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Boudh, Bolangir, and Nuapada during the next 24 hours, the IMD’s bulletin said. The weather department has issued ‘Yellow’ alert for these districts.
Further, IMD has forecast light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Nawarangpur, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours.
