Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has alerted regarding the formation of another low-pressure area in Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas. “A cyclonic storm is active in the upper atmosphere of Jharkhand and north Odisha adjacent to the Gangetic West Bengal. It is likely to develop into low pressure in the next 12 hours,” an IMD bulletin warned on Thursday morning.
As a result, heavy to very heavy rain is expected in several parts of Odisha on Thursday. More rain is likely for the next 24 hours. Under the influence of low pressure, the state will experience increased rainfall till August 11. There is a possibility of more rain in the upper reaches of the river due to possible low pressure.
An orange warning has been issued to seven districts in Odisha given rain. Alerts have been issued to Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Koraput and Nabarangpur.
Similarly, a yellow warning has been issued to 16 districts due to heavy rain. A yellow warning has been issued to five districts for heavy rain including Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sonepur, and Bolangir districts.
