Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain is likely in some districts of south Odisha from Wednesday owing to the prevalence of a cyclonic disturbance over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh.
According to the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Odisha is likely to experience heavy rain on Thursday. The weather office said that the monsoon will return to normal during this period
The IMD issued a yellow warning for heavy rain in eight districts of Odisha on Wednesday. These districts include Mayurbhanj, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri. The state will experience heavy to very heavy rain till July 8 as a result of the cyclonic disturbances.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Rain forecast for Thursday (July 6, 2023):
Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Bolangir and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Boudh and Nuapada.
The monsoon has been weak this year in Odisha as it received 31% less rain. The state received 171.1 mm of rain till June 30 this year.
