Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a Yellow nowcast warning for six districts of Odisha, forecasting light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at one or two places during the next three hours.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, the warning, issued at 3 pm, covers Kataka, including Kataka city, Khordha, including Bhubaneswar city, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal and Kendrapada.
The IMD said light rain with thunderstorms and lightning is very likely at isolated places in these districts and advised residents to remain alert as weather conditions could deteriorate rapidly.
People have been urged to keep a close watch on the weather and plan their activities accordingly to ensure their safety. The weather office has advised the public to take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure, particularly in lightning-prone areas.
