Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for five districts in Odisha predicting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rain in next three hours.
According to the alert issued at 2pm, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rain, and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph (gusting up to 50 kmph) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bargarh, Balangir, Rayagada, and Kandhamal within the next three hours.
The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, has advised people to remain vigilant and monitor the weather for any worsening conditions. Residents have been urged to move to safer locations immediately if lightning is observed, to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
