Bhubaneswar: A clash broke out between two groups of students during the Inter Medical College meet at MKCG Medical College in Berhampur.
The incident occurred when students from SCB Medical College were allegedly abused by some students of MKCG Medical College instead of being welcomed. The situation escalated when SCB students reportedly spat on some MKCG students, leading to a stone-pelting incident and bottle-throwing between the two groups.
Two students from SCB Medical College were injured in the clash and were admitted to MKCG hospital. The Baidyanathpur police station intervened and negotiated between the two parties. Some students have reportedly lodged complaints with the police.
MKCG Medical College Dean Professor Dr Suchitra Dash has called a meeting with all heads of departments and has ordered the cancellation of all programs. This comes after a similar incident occurred earlier at Sambalpur VIMSAR, where MKCG students were attacked.
The Dean of MKCG Medical College has warned that if such incidents happen again, there will be no need to organise the inter-medical college meet. She has ordered the postponement of the event. The SCB Medical College Students’ Union advisor, Prof Jayant Panda, has alleged that MKCG students attacked their students and claimed that no one from MKCG came to receive their students at the railway station.
